Best Books to Reroute Your Thinking

Sometimes you just need help to get your mood back on track. Maybe it was a bad breakup or loss of a job that left you emotionally drained. Maybe it’s a depressing remark from a loved one that sends you into a spiral of self-doubt…. Or maybe you’ve gotten so used to your negative thoughts that you’re not even aware they exist anymore.
More often than not, all it takes is some outside advice to shake things up. When you want to learn something new, what do you look for? A book, of course! From learning about love and relationships to managing the energy you’re putting out into the universe, there’s a self-help or how-to book for everything you need! .

Dr. Helen Schumann’s “A Course in Miracles”
A Course in Miracles, published in 1975, is an OG book on transforming perceptions and spiritual healing. It has inspired millions of people to embrace love – not just as a concept, but as a way of life. The authorized publisher of the book, the Inner Peace Foundation, claims that the book was dictated by a single voice to Dr. Helen Schumann. It is then recorded on paper by her.
“A Course in Miracles” helps readers find inner peace, in part through a 365-day workbook. One of the main principles is healing relationships through forgiveness – we could all use a little of that, couldn’t we?
The book has been so influential that it has inspired many others to take the initiative to tell of their own experiences following A Course.” A Course in Miracles was the impetus for Marianne Williamson’s Return to Love. A Reflection on the Principles of A Course in Miracles, and in motivational speaker Gabriel Bernstein’s “The Universe Has Your Back” ” is mentioned extensively in the book.
Gretchen Rubin’s “The Happiness Project”
Throughout the year, Gretchen Rubin has dedicated herself to finding ways to bring more to her daily life. What a way to be happy. In “The Happiness Project,” (which has the delightful subtitle “Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Singing in the morning, cleaning out my closet, fighting right, reading Aristotle, and generally having more fun”) Rubin recorded How she can choose a new focus each month and improve that area of her life to increase her personal happiness.
Some of her monthly intentions include focusing on boosting energy, aiming higher, remembering love, and contemplating paradise. She offers insights and shares how she broke down these goals and found specific, actionable actions to help her achieve each of them Target Stories.
Don Miguel Ruiz’s “Four Agreements”
In the book The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz uses ancient Toltec wisdom to create what he calls a ‘code of conduct’ ” to live a life motivated by happiness and love.
The book gives examples and explains four agreements that each person should make with themselves. Ruiz lists these agreements as
1. Impeccable conduct and behaviour
2. Don’t target anything.
3. Don’t make assumptions
4. Always do your best.
These rules may seem easy to follow, but sometimes they prove to be a challenge when put into practice. Ruiz assures that following these four steps will lead to personal freedom.
“You’re a Badass Every Day” by Jen Sincero.
Jen Sincero’s #1 New York Times bestseller, “You’re a Badass: How to Start Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living the The Awesome Life is a refreshingly humorous and humane self-help book. Cincero shares how she went from zero to hero and truly changed her life by embracing gratitude and taking responsibility for her thoughts. Because, as she shared, “our thoughts become our words, our words become our beliefs, we The beliefs become our actions, our actions become our habits, and our habits become our reality”.
One of the key takeaways from this book is the idea of tuning into – and embracing – the frequency of the universe. When you tap into this source of energy, amazing things can happen.
In 2018, Sincero published “You’re a Badass Every Day. How to Keep Your Motivation Powerful, Your Vibes High, and Your Quest for Transformation Unstoppable.” This companion book is filled with exercises designed to keep you on the path of badassery. “Adding More Ingredient to Your Life” by Gabrielle Bernstein.
In her first book, “Add More Ingredient to Your Life: A Guide to Happiness,” Gabrielle Bernstein shares Her 30 day system to access your “Ingram”, or your inner guide. She takes you step by step through her “Inga Equation,” a combination of exposing your negative thoughts to yourself and using positive Affirmations (rethink), physical activity (move) and mindfulness meditation (accept) replace them. Repeat this equation every day for 30 days and you’ll see some real change.
“Why aren’t you married…. ” by Tracy McMillan.
McMillan is here to reposition the way you think about love and relationships. What started out as a Huffington Post article of the same name, “Why You’re Not Married… to great success, this book is full of quality relationship advice.
For those struggling to find and keep a long-lasting relationship, McMillan analyzes the various ways women sabotage relationships and offers The Solution. However, despite her tough chapter titles – including “You’re a Bitch,” “You’re Shallow,” and “You’re a Slut,” (ouch), but McMillan is a compassionate friend who shares her own journey to find love so you can learn from her Learning from Successes and Mistakes.
Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way”
“The Artist’s Way” is a 12-week program designed to rekindle one’s creative passion and restore a sense of connection, the Strength and compassion (to name a few). Each week, Cameron gives readers a new set of challenges and goals to cultivate the artist and the human within.
